There have been several news articles about the JEOL JEM 3200FS electron microscope and the Electron Microscopy Center (EMC) in general. The following list includes all the articles that have been brought to our attention:
- An early article mentioning the JEOL JEM 3200FS destined for Simon Hall was published in the IU Home Pages - (May 11th, 2007)
- A description of the interplay between the microscope facility and IU's computing infrastructure was published by the University Information Technology Services News Room - (July 6th, 2009)
- An overview of the impact on life sciences that the new microscope will have was written by life sciences reporter Kylie Veleta from Inside Indiana Business - (July 30th, 2009)
- A report on the newly established Electron Microscopy Center was put together by reporters Jennifer Piurek and April Toler from Inside IU - (November 5th, 2013)
- After joining the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (Indiana CTSI), that organization put a short news story about us on their website - (November 12th, 2013)
- An IU newsroom release highlights work from Adam Zlotnick and others in which the JEOL JEM 3200FS has been used to determine the structure of Hepatitis B Virus (HBV). The news release is mostly about the formation of a company now called Assembly Biosciences that specializes in anti-viral agents that among other actions inhibit the formation of viral capsids, but the EMC has been a key player in all this work - (July 15th, 2014)
- During the 2015 spring semester, three MBA students from the IU Bloomington Kelley School of Business studied the day-to-day operations of the EMC and offered us advice on ways to improve our marketing and business management. Their help was obtained through a program sponsored by the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) and the work is described in an article on their website - (May 21st, 2014)
- Inside IU highlights some recent work from IU Southeast undergraduate Drew Gukeisen, who has used the EMC to help characterize a bacteriophage that infects Caulobacter cresentus - (March 9th, 2016)
