Here are some images of the high tilt retainer (HTR) for the JEOL JEM 3200FS that was damaged during the summer of 2013. We could not determine exactly what caused this damage, but surmise that the tip was rammed into an object hard enough to bend (and crack) the metal. The first image was recorded using the Leica M205FA Stereo Microscope in the Light Microscopy Imaging Facility and the others were obtained using the JEOL JSM 5800LV. For the bottom row of SEM images, the holder was rotated 90° in order to obtain "side views" of the cracks.
